50 Cent is continuing to expand his television empire, joining the upcoming small-screen adaptation of the hit first-person shooter video game franchise Payday, which is still searching for a network or streaming home as development moves forward.
Variety first broke the news on Monday (Aug. 10), revealing that Fif will serve as executive producer on the project alongside Vice Studios and Starbreeze Entertainment. Starbreeze is the parent company of Overkill Software, the studio behind the Payday video game franchise.
A representative for the G-Unit Film & TV founder shared a statement from 50 Cent, who previously served as executive producer on the Emmy-nominated Diddy documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning.
“G-Unit Film & TV has built cinematic crime stories that connect with audiences around the world,” Fif said. “Teaming up with Vice Studios and bringing the world of Payday to the screen gives us the chance to build something big, a high-energy franchise that pushes the heist genre forward.”
The original Payday series began with The Heist in 2011, followed by a sequel in 2013 and a third installment in 2023, which has since received updates.
50 Cent quickly celebrated the announcement on Instagram, sharing his excitement about his executive producer role on the Payday adaptation and adding that he is “leaving no room for errors.”
The TV adaptation is expected to secure a home sooner rather than later.
