Ice Spice has found herself at the center of pregnancy speculation before, and she has repeatedly dismissed the rumors. However, the conversation continues to resurface, partly because moments involving her often spark major reactions online.
Following the release of her new collaboration with Lil Yachty, “Out My Face (My Baby)”, Ice Spice once again found herself addressing speculation about her body and personal life.
The latest rumors began after a lyric in the song where she raps, “Matter fact, make me a mom.” In the accompanying music video, the Bronx rapper’s stomach appears to grow larger during that moment, leading some fans to take the visual too seriously.
Rolling Stone confirmed that Ice Spice is not pregnant, and the rapper also took to TikTok to clear up the speculation, as captured by Livebitez on Instagram.
“I’m not pregnant, guys,” Ice said. “That was… In the song, I literally say, ‘Matter fact, make me a mom,’ and it was CGI. I am chunky, though… I’m a mess, girl. I’m not pregnant…”
Reports also claim that Lil Yachty shared a behind-the-scenes photo showing Ice Spice’s fake baby bump, seemingly joking about the rumors and how some fans interpreted the video. Why people remain so eager for a pregnancy announcement from celebrities, however, is something that may never fully be explained.
The 26-year-old rapper has responded to similar rumors in the past with the same mix of humor and directness, so her latest reaction is not exactly surprising. At this point, Ice Spice understands that even the smallest speculation can create a major online frenzy, and it remains to be seen whether future rumors will become another chance to generate attention and excitement.
Beyond music, Ice Spice is also building her résumé outside of recording, recently returning with her Lil Yachty collaboration. Earlier this year, she launched her “In Ha Mood” fragrance in partnership with Revlon and Ulta Beauty.
Meanwhile, some fans have missed the chance to see Ice Spice perform live at some of her scheduled appearances this year, including Summer Jam and a Kentucky festival show. As expected, fans quickly began speculating about the reasons behind the cancellations, but answers came almost as quickly as the pregnancy rumors were addressed.
