Halle Berry spent part of her weekend with her 12-year-old son, Maceo, just days after her ex-husband Olivier Martinez secured a temporary restraining order against the actress and accused her of physically abusing their child—claims Berry has firmly denied.
Berry, 60, was seen Sunday, Oct. 4, at a Sky Zone trampoline park in Los Angeles with Maceo and her fiancé, musician Van Hunt. According to an eyewitness who spoke to People, Berry spoke with her son before watching him play indoor soccer.
The actress reportedly kept things low-key during the outing and even turned down a fan who asked for a photo. “She nicely turned him down, saying she was with her kid,” the witness said.
A judge granted Martinez a temporary restraining order on Oct. 1 but stopped short of completely barring Berry from seeing Maceo. Under the temporary arrangement, Berry can have daytime parenting time with her son on Mondays, Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. A follow-up hearing is scheduled for Oct. 16.
Martinez requested the order while seeking sole custody of Maceo, alleging that Berry “physically abused our son, Maceo, by jumping on him, putting her hands around his neck, and choking him” during an alleged Sept. 26 confrontation.
Berry’s attorney, Marina Beck, has strongly disputed Martinez’s claims, describing his filing as “entirely meritless and deliberately misleading.” No final ruling has been made on the allegations.
“To say this filing is entirely meritless and deliberately misleading would be an understatement,” Beck said. “Fortunately, Halle is used to this kind of outrageous conduct from Mr. Martinez and, while she is deeply saddened, she will not allow it to deter her from fighting for Maceo’s best interests and providing him with the love and support he needs.”
The latest dispute adds to the years of tension between Berry and Martinez over their son’s upbringing. The former couple married in 2013, welcomed Maceo that same year, and separated in 2015. Their divorce was finalized years later, with the pair agreeing to share custody in 2023.
By 2024, however, Berry was pursuing sole legal custody and claimed that efforts to co-parent had cost her nearly $250,000. “I have done everything possible to work with Olivier, to communicate with him, and to engage him in the decision-making process regarding our son in an amicable way,” she wrote in court documents at the time.
The former spouses have also taken part in parenting therapy as they worked through their ongoing disagreements.
The latest legal battle comes during an otherwise significant year for Berry. Her older daughter Nahla, whom she shares with ex Gabriel Aubry, graduated high school and headed to college, while Berry celebrated turning 60 in August with Hunt in Los Cabos.
