Although the new Street Fighter movie currently holds a 42% rating on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing, 50 Cent is more focused on its box office performance. The fighting game adaptation, which features 50 Cent as both an actor and music contributor, is leading the box office this weekend with a $51 million opening, according to The Wrap.
On Sunday, October 18, he took to Instagram to celebrate the film’s debut, poke fun at Whalefall, which premiered alongside it, and take another jab at his longtime rival Rick Ross.
“You know damn well I wasn’t gonna be beat by a damn whale movie LOL,” the G-Unit mogul wrote before seemingly directing another dig at his Maybach Music Group counterpart. “Fat boy gonna say bots brought the tickets.”
The remark appears to reference Rick Ross’ previous attempts to downplay 50 Cent’s financial success. Most recently, Ross accused the launch of the new G-Unit sneakers of relying on “bots,” questioning whether the shoes sold as well as 50 Cent claimed.
This back-and-forth could continue, with Ross potentially responding to the latest jab. Meanwhile, as Street Fighter remains in theaters, 50 Cent will have more opportunities to celebrate its performance and use its box office results to fuel further shots at his rivals, regardless of how its theatrical run unfolds.
Recently, 50 Cent opened up about his true feelings toward Rick Ross, describing their long-running feud as something he mostly finds amusing. “I tell you, the most difficult beef to have… It’s when the person you’re beefing with is law enforcement,” he said on The Crew Has It. “You can’t do much. They are sworn in under oath… When it [gets] hot, they’re just going to tell, bro. Trust me on that one, man.”
Meanwhile, Rick Ross has other serious issues to address, as he faces domestic violence allegations. After his ex-girlfriend, Jazzma Kendrick, accused him of abuse, authorities in Miami arrested him on battery charges. However, it’s still unclear whether the two situations are connected.
50 Cent has his own share of controversies, including his recent public clash with Power creator Courtney Kemp and the ongoing discussions surrounding his Diddy docuseries. Regardless of what either rapper is dealing with, both seem determined to have the final word and get the last laugh.
