A$AP Rocky is facing online backlash after users accused him of copying another video and incorporating it into the “Shroom Clouds” visual. The allegations began gaining traction on Reddit this weekend, just days after Rocky released the video for the Disc 2 track featuring reggie and Jeremih.
The official video premiered on October 19, with Rocky, directors Aisulton Seitov and Pietro Biz Biasia, and production companies North of Now and Partizan receiving credits. The credits also name “AI Artist: Spike and Red” and “AI Artist: Ces,” sparking debate among fans about how much of the visual was created using artificial intelligence.
“He has such a clear and interesting creative vision, has good taste in collaborators and spends real effort on these,” one Reddit user wrote. “It’s crazy how much a little bit of AI can ruin a video. All the obvious AI special effects were bad enough.”
The controversy comes at an awkward time for Rocky. Just days before the video premiered, he told Complex that he prefers working “practically” with musicians and producers. However, he also acknowledged that fully AI-generated work is “their thing,” adding, “who am I to say what’s standard and what’s not?” Fans unhappy with the AI credits are now pointing to those comments, while others argue that the video still features a major production combining practical effects with visual effects.
For now, the plagiarism claims remain allegations, with no established copyright ruling. No response from a named creator or official statement from Rocky’s camp was verified for this report. Meanwhile, “Shroom Clouds” remains part of the Don’t Be Dumb Disc 2 rollout. The video had also caught fans’ attention earlier after a prop displaying “30 OCT 2026” sparked speculation about a possible deluxe release date.
Until Rocky or his team responds to the criticism, the debate surrounding the video’s originality and use of AI is likely to continue online.
