Donald Trump has weighed in on whether Nicki Minaj could be a suitable choice for White House Press Secretary.
During a Friday (October 30) interview with Benny Johnson on The Benny Show, the U.S. president was asked if Minaj could take over the position following Katie Zacharia’s departure.
“That’s a good idea. I think I’ll have to think about that,” Trump responded. He also entertained the possibility of Johnson taking on the role, telling him, “I’m going to think about that. How about you? You’d be pretty good, too,” he added.
The White House Press Secretary position has remained vacant since Zacharia’s brief five-day stint ended on October 16. She was eventually dismissed over her performance, making her tenure the shortest in the history of the position.
Over the past few months, Nicki Minaj has developed a close relationship with the president and recently accompanied him to Michigan for a midterm rally at Selfridge Air National Guard Base. During the event, Trump praised the rapper, saying she had “one hell of a beautiful ass” that was “hard to miss.”
This isn’t the first time Minaj’s name has come up as a potential candidate for White House Press Secretary. On October 25, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung shared a video clip on X showing the rapper speaking about Trump’s achievements. He accompanied the post with the caption: “Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House Press Secretary! @NICKIMINAJ.”
Minaj has also made her support for Trump clear, showing no intention of distancing herself from the president. The rapper recently reposted a video of Trump referring to her as his “favorite,” adding her own response: “Not going anywhere,” she wrote. “Right where I need to be.”
