Lil Durk is reportedly facing an investigation over allegations that he brought prohibited items into the detention facility where he is currently being held. Prosecutors claim the rapper concealed an Apple Watch inside a body cavity.
On Wednesday (Nov. 4), federal prosecutors submitted their official response to Durk’s latest bond request, once again opposing his release. They argued that the Chicago rapper remains a flight risk and could pose a danger to the community. Prosecutors insisted he should remain in custody, pointing out that his previous four bond requests had already been rejected. They also accused him of continuing to violate detention center regulations and revealed that he is being investigated for allegedly “facilitating the introduction of contraband” into the Los Angeles Metropolitan Detention Center.
During the court proceedings, prosecutors further alleged that Durk obtained an Apple Watch, hid it inside a body cavity and used the device to make hundreds of phone calls. Los Angeles Magazine reporter Taylor Parise, who has been covering the hearing, shared details of the allegations.
Meanwhile, Durk’s legal team submitted an expanded bond proposal that includes his mother’s home as collateral, alongside the rapper’s royalties, publishing rights, name, image and likeness, and touring earnings. His attorneys also referenced his recent acquittal in a separate murder-for-hire case, arguing that the favorable outcome gave him no reason to attempt to flee.
After hearing arguments from both sides, U.S. District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald decided not to issue an immediate ruling on Wednesday. His decision is expected on Thursday (Nov. 5).
