RZA says he hopes Rihanna and A$AP Rocky keep up their Wu-Tang-inspired baby name tradition.
While their second child, Riot Rose, 1, took a different path, their firstborn, RZA Athelaston Mayers, 3, was named after Wu-Tang’s de facto leader. That naming choice follows a family trend—Rocky himself was named after rap legend Rakim, while his sister Erica B. Mayers’ name nods to Eric B., Rakim’s iconic DJ and producer.
At the Nobody 2 premiere on Monday (August 11), RZA told People which Wu-Tang member he’d want the couple’s next baby named after: “You know what? ODB, because you know the legend must live on,” he said, referring to his late cousin and fellow rapper Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
The rapper previously called it a “great honor” when Rihanna and Rocky named their first son after him, telling CNN in 2023, “RZA isn’t only a name, it’s a title. So it’s an honor and I salute her and ASAP and their family. All the blessings in the world from me.”
For baby RZA’s first birthday, the couple went all out with a Wu-Tang-themed party, with Rihanna even dressing up as ODB.
In May, ahead of the 2025 Met Gala, Rihanna sparked baby buzz when she was spotted in a gray Miu Miu outfit that highlighted her growing bump. Rocky later confirmed on the Met Gala red carpet that they are indeed expecting baby number three.
