A former James Bond icon says he’d gladly step back into the franchise—but only under one condition.
Pierce Brosnan told Radio Times he’d be open to returning as a “senior citizen” Bond in filmmaker Denis Villeneuve’s take on the spy saga.
“My wife Keely [Shaye Smith] and I have been listening to the drumbeat of expectation of who’s going to be the next James Bond,” Brosnan shared. “There are many great candidates out there, and I’m sure they’re going to make it a spectacle of delight.” Still, he joked that no one wants to see a “craggy, 72-year-old Bond.”
“If Villeneuve had something up his sleeve, I would look at it in a heartbeat,” he added. “Why not? It’s great entertainment. It could be lots of laughs. Bald caps, prosthetics… who knows?”
He wrapped up by saying, “I’m so excited to see the next man come on the stage and to see a whole new exuberance and life for this character.”
Brosnan famously headlined four Bond films: GoldenEye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World Is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002).
Daniel Craig was the last to don the tuxedo, appearing in five films between 2006 and 2021, including Casino Royale, Skyfall, and No Time to Die.
Before them, other legendary Bonds included Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, and Timothy Dalton—each leaving their own mark on 007 history.
