Will Smith is facing buzz online after sharing a tour video that some believe shows AI-generated fans.
Currently on the UK stretch of his Based on a True Story Tour, the actor-rapper uploaded clips from earlier shows with a caption that read, “My favorite part of tour is seeing you all up close.” The post quickly caught attention, with many pointing out what they suspect are AI-enhanced audience shots.
A Reddit user sparked the debate after noting that AI flaws seem to pop up whenever the video zooms in on the crowd. Viewers pointed to warped faces beneath the “From West Philly…” sign and odd distortions with the fans holding a banner that read, “You Can Make It’ helped me survive cancer. THX Will.”
Smith’s Instagram post is now flooded with comments calling out the alleged AI trickery. One user wrote, “This AI slop is so embarrassing LMAO pause the video and you can see the inconsistent finger lengths and that the cell phones warp in the palm of the hands.”
Another chimed in, “I had to come see it for myself. I paused through the crowd clips and it’s definitely AI generated.”
Still, some on Reddit argued it might just be a case of image upscaling that made the audience look distorted.
