Power actress Alix Lapri was arrested earlier this month in Georgia on charges of third-degree cruelty to children and disorderly conduct.
According to jail records obtained by Complex, the arrest was made by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office on Aug. 18, tied to an alleged incident from Aug. 10. Lapri—best known for her role as Effie Morales in the Power franchise—spent about a day behind bars before being released.
While the charge may sound severe, third-degree cruelty to children has a broader definition than most assume. Legally, it refers to situations where someone “intentionally” allows a child under 18 to witness a forcible felony, battery, or family violence battery.
So far, Lapri has not spoken publicly about the arrest, nor has she addressed the media coverage surrounding it. Complex confirmed they reached out to both her representatives and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office for comment.
Born Alexus Geier, Lapri has appeared in several notable projects, including starring alongside 50 Cent and Gerard Butler in the 2018 film Den of Thieves. More recently, she featured in Key Glock’s 2023 music video for “Let’s Go,” directed by Chris Villa.
On Monday, Lapri returned to Instagram with a fresh update, posting behind-the-scenes shots from a new project she’s working on.
“Gotta keep at it buddy,” she captioned the photos. “Chase the dream and know no fear.”
