Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were spotted sharing a warm moment on the red carpet at the Kiss of the Spider Woman screening in New York City on Monday.
The former couple not only seemed to enjoy a friendly exchange but also posed side by side for photos, marking a rare public appearance together.
The reunion came shortly after Jennifer Lopez’s appearance on TODAY Monday, where co-anchor Craig Melvin mentioned that she was filming Kiss of the Spider Woman at the same time her divorce from Ben Affleck—who also serves as an executive producer on the project—was finalized.
“In the middle of filming this elaborate, beautiful musical, your divorce was also finalized,” Melvin noted, prompting Lopez to laugh and reply, “There you go! Look at this guy!”
Lopez acknowledged the unique situation, admitting that the film wouldn’t exist without Affleck’s involvement. “If it wasn’t for Ben, the movie wouldn’t have gotten made, and I will always give him that credit,” she said. “And yeah, things happen. You just have to keep going.”
Her divorce from Affleck has been a recurring topic throughout her Kiss of the Spider Woman press run. Speaking with CBS Sunday Morning last month, the actress and singer reflected on how difficult it was to balance her personal and professional life at that time.
“Honestly, I have to say it was the best thing that ever happened to me,” Lopez shared. “Because it changed me—it helped me grow in a way that I needed to. It made me more self-aware. I’m not the same person I was a year ago.”
