Cardi B says her recent clash with a Donald Trump advisor has her rethinking how much she wants to speak on politics at all — mainly for her own peace of mind.
During an X Spaces chat on Thursday (Feb. 26), the Bronx rapper reflected on her heated exchange with Alex Bruesewitz, who accused her of being tied to a report claiming Nicki Minaj’s recent conservative shift was boosted by social media bots.
Cardi admitted the back-and-forth with Bruesewitz — a Trump media and political advisor known to be close to Minaj — left her shaken. The exchange on X included accusations and even threats of legal action.
“I don’t even play that shit. I don’t want no smoke with nobody from the fucking government, bitch,” she said.
Her concern? Safety — for herself and her family.
“I don’t want no beef with no white folks that work in the motherfucking White House, because, God forbid, my motherfucking plane blow up [on] some weird shit. [Or] I get kidnapped [or] they play with my family,” she explained.
Cardi said that after she responded to Bruesewitz, she felt swarmed online.
“They attacked me for four, three days straight for no reason,” she said.
“I never even heard of this man. I don’t even know this man,” she added, claiming the backlash didn’t just come from the advisor but also from his attorney.
“Mind you, these are the people that work in the White House,” she told listeners. “I might be a celebrity, but at the end of the day, I’m just a regular degular bitch from the fucking Bronx, and somebody that is the right hand man of the president is attacking me for four, five days straight.”
She shared that the situation left her feeling anxious — and even paranoid.
“It makes me feel like people that are in power and are in the White House is watching me and looking at me and stalking me,” she said. “Motherfuckers might be outside my hotel. …. Motherfuckers probably have a satellite on top of my crib. So how the fuck do you think I feel? I feel a little paranoid, because it’s like, why me? I’ve been minding my business.”
The drama began after Politico published a report about a study conducted by disinformation detection firm Cyabra.
According to the study, “a coordinated network of bots — more than 18,000 of them — … drove algorithms to spread Minaj’s posts on X.”
The amplified posts reportedly included pro-Trump messaging, claims about alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria, criticism of Trump rival Gavin Newsom, and support for the SAVE Act — a voter ID bill backed by Trump that the Brennan Center for Justice says “would block millions of American citizens from voting.”
After the Politico story dropped, Bruesewitz argued that the article should have disclosed that Cardi’s agent, Mike “G” Guirguis, has ties to Cyabra — pointing to the long-running feud between Cardi and Nicki Minaj.
Both Cardi and Guirguis quickly responded.
“[M]y advisory role and investment in Cyabra along with multiple other tech companies has absolutely nothing to do with Cardi B,” Guirguis wrote on X.
Cardi didn’t stay silent either.
“Listen, you involved me in something that has nothing to do wit me so now we’re gonna talk about the facts,” she fired back on X. “Cyabra is a data company with a lot of investors like Mike G, customers like Elon Musk and Pepsi that use that company for data and even has Mike Pompeo on the board of advisors.. so what you need to focus on is the fact that data is VERY real and leave me out of your bullshit.
“I do not have anything to do with that and I don’t give AF!! Now lie and say that’s not true!!! See what happen when you involve me in shit that don’t have nothing to do with me? I get down to the GRISTLE of it!!”
