Man in Singapore Arrested Over Alleged Leak of The Last Airbender

A 26-year-old man in Singapore has been arrested for allegedly accessing The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender without permission and leaking it online.

According to a report from The Straits Times, local authorities confirmed they seized several electronic devices, including a digital copy of the film. Police allege the suspect remotely accessed a media server, downloaded the movie, and then distributed it widely across the internet.

If convicted, he could face up to seven years in prison and/or a fine of up to $50,000 for unauthorized access to computer material.

The film first surfaced online earlier this month when the full movie was uploaded on X for public viewing. Paramount launched an investigation into the leak and later confirmed it did not originate from within the company.

Flying Bark Productions, the Australian studio behind the animation, also denied any involvement. “It was heartbreaking to see footage from The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender leak online,” the company said in a statement. “This leak did not originate from Flying Bark.”

“Our studio proudly partnered on the production until the very end, and we acknowledge the filmmakers, casts, artists, and animators who worked tirelessly to produce this incredibly crafted film,” the statement added.

Animator Julia Schoel also shared her frustration on X, writing, “We worked on the Aang movie for years with the expectation that we’d get to celebrate all of our hard work in theaters…just to see people unceremoniously leak the film and pass our shots around on Twitter like candy.”

Although it was initially planned for a theatrical release, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender is now set to premiere on Paramount+ on October 9.
