IShowSpeed is standing by a bold prediction he first made four years ago.
During a livestream on Sunday, the YouTube star revisited his 2022 World Cup anthem, highlighting a verse where he predicted Portugal and Argentina would face off in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the winning goal against Lionel Messi.
In the track, Speed raps, “Portugal versus Argentina? Ronaldo versus Messi. In the last stage, Ronaldo scores a free kick, and that’s game, three to two. GG’s to all the rest of the countries.”
After replaying the clip, Speed reminded fans that he made the prediction years before the tournament got underway.
“That’s my prediction. That’s my World Cup final. 2026, and I said it back in 2022, and ain’t nobody believe me, bro. Ain’t nobody believe me,” he said. “That is my World Cup prediction final. So I’m not even gonna make a long video on it. Argentina versus Portugal. That’s the World Cup final for 2026. Three, two, three, two, three, two.”
Speed’s prediction suddenly appears much more plausible.
With the group stage now wrapped up, Argentina and Portugal have landed on opposite sides of the knockout bracket, meaning the only way they can face each other is in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final if both teams continue advancing. The setup has sparked excitement over the possibility of one last iconic showdown between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on soccer’s biggest stage.
Argentina heads into the knockout rounds powered by an in-form Messi, who has already netted five goals and became the all-time leading scorer in men’s World Cup history during the group stage. Portugal, meanwhile, bounced back from a slow start thanks to Ronaldo, who responded with a brace against Uzbekistan after being held scoreless in the team’s opening match.
Whether Speed’s long-standing prediction becomes reality is still uncertain, as both Argentina and Portugal must win four straight knockout matches to book their place in the World Cup final.
