Drake has revealed that he is placing a $1.5 million wager on Argentina defeating Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.
On Friday night (July 17), the rapper shared his Stake betting slip on Instagram, confirming the massive bet. He captioned the post with the cryptic message: “What’s that saying??? Better luck…”

Drizzy’s caption appears to reference his infamous reputation for bringing bad luck to teams and athletes whenever he publicly backs them. Fans have dubbed it the “Drake curse,” claiming that teams and competitors often end up losing after the rapper places a wager on them, or that he somehow finds a way to lose the bet.
One example came in 2022 when Drake bet on Argentina to defeat France in the FIFA World Cup Final. Argentina did eventually win the match, but because the game went beyond regulation time and was decided through penalties, the rapper reportedly lost $1 million.
More recently, fans pointed to another possible case of the Drake curse when the rapper wagered $1 million on Conor McGregor to win his UFC comeback fight against Max Holloway — a bet that did not go as planned.
Before the fight, Drake shared his Stake betting slip on Instagram and wrote: “THE MAC IS BACK?!?!?? The proper twelve drinking, tailored suit wearing, Lambo Yacht riding man with the Dubai tan that once had both belts in both hands… Say less @stake.”
However, McGregor’s return ended just over a minute into the fight after his right knee gave out during his opening kick. Following the match, McGregor addressed the injury on X, writing: “My head gasket is gone. Destroyed. I had no injury / injuries going into the fight. I was throwing kicks, planted and jumping, all throughout camp as well as backstage before the fight. This came out of nowhere. I am beyond dark here. I can only describe it as hell.”
Still, Drake likely isn’t too concerned about whether Argentina wins or loses this time around, especially after reportedly scoring a $30 million win on Stake’s new commercial campaign. In the Instagram ad, Drake celebrated as his supposed winnings climbed to the massive figure, repeatedly shouting “Oh My God” more than 70 times.
With a win like that, Drake can keep placing his bets and continuing to fuel the legend of his so-called curse.
