DDG’s making it clear he’ll always back Drake, especially now when others seem to be jumping ship during the Kendrick Lamar beef.
On a recent stream, the Michigan rapper told his audience he’s a real Drake fan who won’t flip sides, unlike those who’ve changed up during the months-long Lamar drama. DDG said he’d stay loyal even if Drake did him wrong personally, since he’s been bumping his music since day one.
“I could never switch up on Drake as a fan, bruh,” DDG said during the stream. “I just can’t. Even if he did something to me personally. I just couldn’t. Because I grew up listening to the n***a bruh. I’ve been listening to the music since I was a kid.”
He went on: “I could never switch up. I’m just a loyal ass fan. If I’m a fan of your stuff, I’mma be a fan of your stuff forever. That’s just how I am. Even if I grow apart from your art or whatever, I’mma always be a loyal fan. I ain’t going to switch up on you. A lot of y’all need to take notes from me cause some of y’all be switching up. Y’all need to stop that.”
DDG shared how Drake’s music was his go-to for road trips and helped him cope with “a lot of heartbreaks.” He even admitted Drake’s tunes were his bedroom playlist. For him, it’s all about the music – nothing else matters.
Last December, DDG featured on Tory Lanez’s track “Handling Business,” where Tory backed Drake. He rapped about facing similar hate: “I be up praying & waiting for the day that n**s come for me the way they did Drizzy/ I got the card in the wallet & big brodies problems are my problems so fuck how you feelin’ about it.”
Meanwhile, DDG jumped on Twitch Jan. 9 to share that he had to evacuate his mansion because of the L.A. wildfires, saying he was working on getting fire insurance.
