Sheff G is facing a five-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to attempted murder and conspiracy charges.
The 26-year-old rapper, whose real name is Michael Williams, accepted a court deal on Wednesday (March 26) by entering a guilty plea in exchange for the five-year prison term, according to a statement from Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez’s office.
Prosecutors initially pushed for a 20-year sentence, but Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun gave him five years in prison and five years of supervised release. His sentencing was originally set for August.
“Notoriety could not shield this defendant from justice. He used his fame to fund and direct violence, terrorizing our streets, and though we sought a much longer sentence, he will now be held to account,” said District Attorney Gonzalez in the statement. “Brooklyn will not tolerate gangs that endanger our communities, and we remain committed to dismantling these criminal networks and holding those responsible fully accountable.”
Sheff, an alleged member of the 8 Trey Crips and its affiliate, the 9 Ways gang, was among 32 people charged in a 140-count indictment for violent crimes, including “committing shootings, possessing guns, and using stolen cars during shootings against gang rivals.”
Officials claimed that suspected gang members, including Sheff, committed numerous violent acts, many caught on security cameras and discussed on social media.
One of the worst incidents was an October 21, 2020 mass shooting where a rival gang member, 23-year-old Theodore Senior, was killed and five others were wounded.
Prosecutors alleged Sheff helped plan and celebrate the attack, even hosting a fancy dinner at a Manhattan steak house to mark the occasion.
Sheff, who was renting a large house in Short Hills, New Jersey, during the conspiracy, reportedly used his music money to fund gang activity in Brooklyn “by offering money and giving expensive jewelry to those who committed acts of violence,” according to the Brooklyn DA.
In another 2021 incident in Flatbush, Sheff allegedly coordinated three shooters and served as their getaway driver.
The case continues with other defendants, including rapper Sleepy Hallow, legally named Tegan Chambers, still facing charges.
Sheff was out on bail when he and Sleepy Hallow showed up at a Bronx rally supporting Donald Trump’s re-election campaign in May 2023.
A week later, Trump was convicted on all 34 counts of falsifying business records in his hush money trial related to his alleged affair with adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
