Britney Spears Was Allegedly Taking Multiple Prescription Drugs During DUI Arrest

Britney Spears was arrested for a DUI back in March, and fresh details surrounding the incident have now surfaced.

According to a police report first obtained by Us Weekly, officers pulled the pop icon over near her home in Ventura County, California on March 4 shortly after 9 p.m. local time following reports of a driver who was allegedly “traveling at high speeds and swerving.”

“[The subject] continued to drive in the #2 lane and did not immediately react to my emergency lights. I activated the [police car’s] siren to get the driver’s attention,” an officer reportedly wrote in the documents.

After Spears eventually stopped the vehicle, the officer claimed there was a smell of alcohol coming from inside the car. The singer allegedly told police, “I could probably drink four bottles of wine and take care of you. I’m an angel.” According to the report, Spears also stated she had consumed a mimosa roughly seven hours earlier and rated herself a “zero” on a sobriety scale from zero to 10.

The “I’m a Slave 4 U” singer reportedly informed officers that she had taken three prescription medications earlier that day: 200mg of Lamictal, 40mg of Prozac, and 2.5mg of Adderall. She also allegedly said her last meal had been ice cream around 3 p.m. Officers further claimed they discovered a bottle of Adderall in her purse that was not prescribed to her, along with an empty wine glass in the front seat cup holder.

“I instructed Spears to exit the [car], but she initially refused,” the officer reportedly wrote. “Spears related she had been pranked and harassed in the past and did not want to exit.” The report also noted that the 44-year-old’s eyes appeared “red,” “watery,” and dilated.

Despite the allegations, Spears later passed two chemical breath tests at a nearby precinct, reportedly recording .05 and .06, both below California’s legal limit of .08.

Following the arrest, Spears accepted a plea agreement connected to reckless driving involving alcohol and/or drugs. The deal reportedly allowed her to avoid jail time in exchange for probation and other conditions commonly tied to “wet reckless” pleas, including fines and DUI education classes.

Earlier this month, Spears addressed the situation publicly for the first time following the arrest and her reported rehab stay.

“I’m so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey,” she shared online while describing the challenges she faced as “all a blessing in disguise.”

“I still have to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself,” she added. “It’s a never-ending journey.”
