Chrisean Rock continues to face legal issues in addition to the ongoing drama involving her former partner, Blueface. According to HOT 97, a California Superior Court judge entered a $40,000 default judgment against the rapper after she failed to appear in connection with an assault lawsuit filed by Lashala Irby.
For those unfamiliar with the case, Irby accused Chrisean of assault, battery, and causing her emotional distress during an altercation at a Hollywood movie premiere in 2023. Although Irby sought approximately $250,000 in damages, the judge ruled that there wasn’t enough evidence to award the full amount.
Rock reportedly did not attend the default prove-up hearing in Burbank Superior Court and also failed to participate in the legal proceedings. After hearing Irby’s testimony, Judge Frank M. Tavelman issued a written ruling granting the default judgment.
“Here, plaintiff did not provide sufficient evidence to support an award of more than $230,000 in general damages,” Judge Tavelman reportedly wrote. “Her testimony regarding embarrassment and helplessness was brief and lacked detail concerning the severity or ongoing impact of these feelings.”
The alleged circulation of a video from the incident was cited in support of Lashala Irby’s emotional distress claim, which reportedly accounted for nearly $38,100 of the damages awarded.
“I was violently assaulted by a well-known celebrity and that assault was captured on video that continues to circulate across the internet to this day,” Irby reportedly stated. “The ongoing public exposure of the alleged assault has magnified my suffering in a way that words can hardly capture.”
Irby claimed the interaction began peacefully before Chrisean allegedly attacked her “suddenly and without warning.” According to court filings, Rock did not contest the allegations, with Irby arguing that she “refused to appear in this case, leaving her conduct unchallenged.”
Before the default judgment against Chrisean, Irby reportedly reached a tentative $35,000 settlement with Zeus Networks LLC and MGP XI-GPI Laurel Plaza LLC, resolving her claims against those parties. The latest judgment applies only to the Baddies star.
Meanwhile, Chrisean Rock has continued to update fans on her personal life while navigating the ongoing fallout involving Blueface.
