Tay Keith made a lasting impact on the hip-hop world, earning widespread respect as one of the industry’s top hit-making producers in a relatively short period of time.
Sadly, the acclaimed producer passed away on June 18, leaving the hip-hop community in mourning. Earlier this week, family, friends, and loved ones came together for a private funeral service to celebrate the life of someone many believe still had so much more to offer.
Among those paying tribute was Future, who honored Tay Keith with a simple but heartfelt message on X, writing, “Forever Legendary.”
Meanwhile, one of Tay Keith’s closest friends and longtime collaborators, BlocBoy JB, shared a more emotional tribute on Instagram. The two played a major role in each other’s rise to success, and their message reflected the deep brotherhood they shared over the years.
“Yesterday I had to bury my sandy my day 1 blood couldn’t make us no closer,” BlocBoy JB wrote. “Me and you was like salt and pepper cuh we really started this shit never thought you’ll be in a casket before me. You always kept me up wen I was down, I still hear yo laugh in da bacc of my head can’t believe you gone brother we gone always keep yo name alive n keep fuccin des n****s up.”
Tay Keith helped define the sound of hip-hop throughout the late 2010s and early 2020s. His signature producer tag became one of the most recognizable in the industry, and his influence continues to be felt across the genre. Though he is gone, his legacy will live on through the timeless music he created and the countless lives he impacted.
