Jay-Z has experienced one of his most talked-about years in recent memory, though some people appear to be growing tired of his continued presence in hip-hop conversations. Charleston White is among those critics.
White recently attended Adin Ross’ Brand Risk 15 event, where he had an uncomfortable interaction with Jaden Newman before her brother’s match. During the event, an alleged Brand Risk interviewer asked him about his opinion on Hov, and as expected, White gave a blunt response. The interviewer even appeared to agree with his take.
“Jay-Z? Fk Jay-Z! Fk you bringing Jay-Z up for?” Charleston said, as captured by DJ Akademiks on Instagram. “Jay-Z a has-been na. That’s a used-to-be na. Why you ain’t bring up Finesse2tymes, Lil Baby, NBA YoungBoy? Them is right now nas. Don’t bring up no used-to-be na, man. F**k Jay-Z.”
Although it was a random and casual exchange, the moment highlights how much attention the ongoing Roc Nation conversations continue to attract. Ultimately, comments like these only add more fuel and engagement to the discussion.
Interestingly, while Charleston White was delivering his rant, Drake’s “Plot Twist” could be heard playing in the background. Given Drake’s own feud with Jay-Z, some joked that the energy may have influenced White’s comments.
There has been plenty of discussion about whether a full-fledged rap battle between the “Pound Cake” collaborators could actually happen. The two have exchanged subtle shots throughout the summer, and there have also been rumors that Jay-Z may have a new album on the way.
For now, fans will have to wait and see how things unfold. Both artists are major figures in the culture, meaning they could easily avoid a direct clash and continue building tension through social media instead.
Regardless, it appears Charleston White and others are no longer interested in hearing Jay-Z’s perspective on certain topics. At the same time, there remains a large audience that still supports the rap icon. New music from either side could reignite the conversation and would likely create plenty of reactions.
