Trina is standing by her husband, Benjamin “Swurv” Kearse, after fans misinterpreted an onstage moment involving the couple.
According to AllHipHop, footage from a recent Miami performance showed Trina appearing distracted and upset as an altercation unfolded behind her while she was onstage.
In an effort to end the situation, the rapper pulled her husband away from the confrontation before he moved to the other side of the stage. Trina then continued performing her 2008 hit, “Single Again.”
Later in the show, Trina motioned for the music to stop as she tried to figure out what was happening among members of the onstage crew.
“Everybody back the fuck up off the stage, first of all,” she told the crowd. “Whatever, whoever, back the fuck up off the stage.”
Her comments drew loud cheers from the audience before she resumed the performance.
The Miami rapper later addressed the viral moment on Instagram, making it clear that she was not scolding her husband, Benjamin “Swurv” Kearse, whom she married in May 2024.
“I was NOT checking my husband. I was making sure he was good due to an altercation that took place on stage,” she wrote. “Too many people with bad energy. So I made everybody back up. I’m gonna always protect mine. Stop with the false narrative and lies.”
Last year, Swurv — who appeared alongside Trina on Love & Hip Hop: Miami — was arrested in connection to an alleged assault that reportedly happened in 2023.
According to the alleged victim, he was crossing the street when Swurv’s Dodge Charger suddenly struck a stop sign, which the man accidentally touched with his hand. Swurv allegedly followed him to a nearby residence, where he reportedly punched him several times and broke his nose.
