Victoria Beckham has yet to reconcile with her son Brooklyn Beckham.
The former Spice Girl opened up about their strained relationship for the first time in an interview with the Wall Street Journal published on Thursday (April 16).
“I think that we’ve always—we love our children so much,” Beckham said when asked about Brooklyn, though she didn’t mention him by name. “We’ve always tried to be the best parents that we can be.”
She shares four children with David Beckham: Brooklyn, 27; Romeo, 23; Cruz, 21; and Harper, 14.
Victoria added, “And you know, we’ve been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we’ve ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children. And you know, that’s all I really want to say about it.
“Being a parent of young adult children and adult children, gosh, I mean, it’s very different from having little children,” she said.
Brooklyn Beckham reportedly distanced himself from his family after tying the knot with his wife, Nicola Peltz, in 2022.
Back in January, he publicly criticized his parents, accusing them of trying to “ruin” his marriage and making it clear he has no interest in reconciling.
“I’m not being controlled. I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” he wrote on Instagram. “For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events, and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.”
David Beckham later addressed the situation during a CNBC panel, offering a more measured response.
“Children are allowed to make mistakes—that’s how they learn,” he said. “That’s what I try to teach my kids. But you know, you have to sometimes let them make those mistakes as well.”
